Reports of a conversation between a prominent New York City real estate lawyer and Judge Arthur Engoron have sparked an investigation by the state of New York, following claims that the attorney offered unsolicited advice to the judge. This development comes in the wake of Engoron’s March ruling ordering former President Donald Trump to pay a $454 million judgment.
Adam Leitman Bailey, the New York real estate attorney, publicly stated that he had spoken to Judge Engoron three weeks prior to the ruling, urging him to “get it right.” While Bailey denies any personal affiliation with Trump, he emphasized his extensive legal interactions with Engoron over the years.
Bailey asserted that his conversation with Engoron was motivated by concerns about the potential economic repercussions of imposing such a hefty fine on Trump. However, Engoron’s spokesperson has vehemently denied any impropriety, asserting that the judge’s decision was independent and uninfluenced.
